Lucre
The trio of Chris Cogburn (Austin, TX.), Bryan Eubanks (Saint Petersburg, FL.), and Vic Rawlings (Boston, MA.), formed after a meeting of musicians in Seattle during the summer of 2009. Long standing duo work existed between the three, but a trio formation had never taken place and the presence of tensions and affinities among individual approaches and sonic vocabulary made the idea intriguing. Combining open-circuits, stripped down percussion, amplified cello, and unstable modular synthesis, the trio organized a tour of northeastern North America during March of 2010 to explore the possibilities. Lucre is currently organizing concerts in Florida, Mexico, and other parts of the world during and after 2011.

Lucre live at Casa Del Populo, Montreal, Quebec March 23rd, 2010. Recorded by Mathias Belanger.

Chris Cogburn
An active percussionist, curator, educator and organizer based in Austin, Texas, Cogburn's artistic practice and curatorial interests are rooted in the collaborative context of improvisation. Cogburn approaches the physical nature of the drum with an interest and attention to the instrument's subtle and overlooked timbres and textures, revealing unexpected sound worlds suffused with meanings and forms, acute yet infinite. Since 2003, Cogburn has organized and curated the No Idea Festival -- and annual festival of improvised music featuring artists from around the U.S., Europe, Japan, Mexico and Canada. No Idea events have been held in several cities including: Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Dallas, New Orleans, Mexico City and Merida, Yucatan. Vic Rawlings
Rawlings employs a still and unstable sound language from the visceral excess of the Laurence Cook Disaster Unit to the extreme austerity of undr quartet. He has designed and built two instruments to realize this aesthetic. He uses an amplified cello as a sounding surface/ resonant microphone, augmenting it with extensive and invasive preparations (some directly based on obscure baroque instrumentation). He also continually develops an electronic instrument from the exposed circuit boards of sound processors, effectively producing an analog synthesizer with a highly unstable interface. This electric instrument is acoustically realized by a flexible array of exposed speaker elements, chosen for their often unpredictable and idiosyncratic sonic qualities. His writings on music/instrumentation have been published in Leonardo Music Journal. For more information see here.

Bryan Eubanks
Focused on collaborations, solo musical projects, and sound installations, Eubanks has performed his work in live settings across the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea. Originally a saxophonist, his work has expanded to include computer music and instruments of his own design that incorporate open-circuits, samplers, radio transmission, and other electronics. Musically active in Portland, Oregon in the late 90's working with Joe Foster, Jean Paul Jenkins, GOD, and Super Unity before moving to New York City in 2005 where he worked closely with Andrew Lafkas for the next 5 years in a variety of settings. He currently lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Florida. More info here
